  Three-time Sun Belt Conference player of the year Grayson McCall said he's entering the NCAA transfer portal to "explore other opportunities." McCall, the Chanticleers' three-year starter at quarterback, said in his social media post Monday he'll play in the the Birmingham Bowl against East Carolina on Dec. 27 and "finish what I started." McCall set the NCAA mark for pass efficiency with a mark of 207.6 in 2021. He's thrown for 8,019 yards, 78 touchdowns and eight interceptions over 33 games at Coastal Carolina. He made 10 starts this season in leading the Chants to 9-3 mark and a Sun Belt East Division title. Coastal Carolina fell to Troy in the league title game, 45-26, on Dec. 3.

It was a bumpy finish for the program, which started 9-1 and entered the national rankings at No. 23 in mid November. It's game at Virginia on Nov. 19 was called off after the killing of three Cavalier football players. It then lost consecutive games to James Madison and Troy to close the season before coach Jamey Chadwell left to become Liberty's head coach earlier this month. North Carolina State offensive coordinator Tim Beck was named to take over for Chadwell as head coach. "This has been extremely hard for me," McCall posted on Twitter. "But after much prayer and careful consideration, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal to explore other opportunities." McCall passed for 2,633 yards and 24 touchdowns with just two interceptions this season. - AP College Football

  2022 LOU GROZA AWARD WINNER: Christopher Dunn, NC State,...NC State's Christopher Dunn was named the winner of the 2022 Lou Groza Place-Kicker Award on Thursday night during the The Home Depot College Football Awards show on ESPN. Dunn, who set new ACC records in points scored (479) and field goals (93) in 2022, leads the ACC and ranks second nationally in field goal percentage (.960). He also tops the league in kick scoring and field goals and tied for the national lead in field goals per game. In 2022, Dunn twice earned ACC Specialist of the Week honors and Lou Groza Star of the Week accolades.

He claimed both honors in the same week after he tied a career-high with four made field goals in NC State's 19-17 win over Florida State, scoring 13 of the Pack's 19 points. He also tied a career long with a 53-yarder in the victory over the Seminoles. Of Dunn's 24 makes on the season, 10 of them came from 40 yards or longer.   2022 LOU GROZA AWARD FINALIST (OUTSTANDING KICKER): Christopher Dunn, North Carolina State,...Dunn, a graduate student from Lexington, capped a record-setting career with his finest single season, going 24-for-25 on field goals - the best accuracy rate by kickers with at least 20 attempts. He ranks second nationally in total field goals. He connected on 17 kicks from at least 30 yards out, also the second-most in the country, and was 10-11 from 40+ yards. Already the NC State program leader in both field goals and scoring, this season he set the ACC career records in both of those categories. He was a two-time ACC Specialist of the Week this season for the games against Florida State and at North Carolina.
